Thanks to National Science Centre and project PRELUDIUM 14 (UMO-2017/27/N/ST5/00175) Katarzyna Mituła had an opportunity to be a participant on “3rd Edition of International Congress on Catalysis and Chemical Science (Catalysis 2019)” during March 11-12, 2019 in Singapore. This conference was the International platform that brought together scientists in the field of chemistry, catalysis and chemical science. The scientific program of the conference included 35 oral presentations. Katarzyna was presenting her research results on a poster presentation. Her work is on the synthesis of silsesquioxane derivatives (mono- and dialkenyl derivatives of double-decker silsesquioxanes) and their use in the modification of selected types of polysiloxanes. Although there were only ten posters overall (:o), the poster session was very interesting and productive.
There was a time for long discussions and Kasia had an opportunity to talk with scientists from Germany, Japan, and Iran about these new groups of specific organosilicon compounds, i.e. silsesquioxanes that are still not known to all scientists. Katarzyna had also a possibility to discover the beauty of the island, the country which can be traveled from one side to another in a subway. She was amazed at and delighted by its architecture, modernity, food and the extreme kindness of people. There is a mixture of several cultures in Singapore (Buddhism, Hinduism, Catholicism, Islam and many more) which gives a possibility to discover them all in one place (religious pluralism).
