In the beautiful scenery of Portuguese Venezia, in Aveiro, the 2nd International Conference on Nanomaterials Science and Mechanical Engineering took place. Three young scientists: mgr Julia Duszczak, mgr Katarzyna Mituła, and dr Monika Rzonsowska represented our Lab Team to report on the research results obtained thanks to financial support from National Science Centre: OPUS 14 – 2016/23/B/ST5/00201 and PRELUDIUM 14 – 2017/27/N/ST5/00175. The conference was preceded by the Workshop on Characterization and Analysis of Nanomaterials, where participants had the opportunity to learn about actual trends in the analysis of special materials and see analytical equipment at the University in Aveiro.
The conference had a typical scientific program, including interesting lectures and time for discussion on that and time for presenting posters as well. The poster session was held at 11 July between 16:00 and 18:00. Julia presented her results on the poster titled: Di- and tetrasubstituted double-decker silsesquioxanes as building blocks for molecular and macromolecular frameworks and Monika reported on the A new family of alkynylsubstituted silsesquioxanes topic. The poster session was an excellent time for discussion on the results of research and getting to know the overall trends in the materials chemistry. Moreover, Katarzyna was distinguished by the Organizing Committee and gave an interesting lecture on Multi(alkenyl)functionalized silsesquioxanes as potential polysiloxanes modifiers.
The participation of our young Lab co-workers in this Conference was a very good opportunity to see the up-to-date progress in nanomaterial science in the last few years and met proficient specialists in this area of chemistry.
