10ESD in Montpellier 10-12 July 2023

The 10th European Silicon Days (10ESD) – one of the most important cyclic event in the chemistry of Silicon of international impact is taking place in University campus in the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier located in the north of Montpellier. It was a great opportunity to listen to world-class experts presenting state-of-the-art advances in the chemistry of organosilicon, silicon and related issues and have some exciting discussions.

Three of our group members presented the results we obtained recently: Prof. UAM dr hab. Beata Dudziec (Invited Lecture), Dr Monika Rzonsowska (Oral Communication) and MSc Aleksandra Mrzygłód (poster) were co-financed by NCN and Research University Excellence Initiative (ID-UB).

The 10ESD Program develop the following scientific topics:
1 – Silicon molecular chemistry : new compounds, highly reactive species, new bonding systems, reactivity and low coordinate silicon species
2 – New synthetic methodologies using silicon-based synthetic tools
3 – Materials – Design and applications
a) Silicone-based materials
b) Silica-based materials and precursors: silsesquioxanes (cage-like,   POSS, etc…), hybrids,…
c) Polysilanes, polycarbosilanes, silicon carbide and ceramics
4 – Organometallics
5 – New industrial trends and aspects of silicon-derived materials
a) Circular economy
b) Environmental aspects
c) New industrial applications: catalysis, energy storage, optical devices and sensing, biomedical, etc…
